5 Skin Care Tips for Men

-

For some men, terms like “skincare” might conjure up images of girls in goofy face masks or products that smell like flowers. However, there is actually a myriad of options available when it comes to men’s skincare, and companies like Nuskin and other cosmetic industry leaders are realizing that men want great skin too! Try the tips below to get healthy and clear skin, and in no time your wives, sisters, and buddies will be asking you for tips.

Establish a Routine

One of the hardest parts to making a change is creating new habits, and skincare is no different. Clear skin won’t happen overnight, so you need to establish a routine. Take note of your schedule and preferences as you try out a few things, then use what works for you. There are several companies with men’s skincare collections you can try.

Cut Sugar & Add Water

A healthy diet is another way you can help your skin. Excessive amounts of sugar and other high glycemic foods will cause your body to produce higher levels of insulin, and too much insulin leads to inflammation. Inflamed cells in the skin are the culprit behind a lot of acne and breakouts.

Our bodies are made up mostly of water, which means we need a lot of water for everything to function at the highest levels. Our skin is no different. Make sure you are drinking enough water every day, especially if you sweat a lot.

Wash Up

Speaking of sweat, make sure you don’t wait too long to wash your face and body after a workout. Wash your face every night before bed and your pillowcase at least once a week. Use a men’s facial cleanser, but choose one that does not contain salicylic acid. This active ingredient is more effective in a cream that will remain on the skin for more than a couple minutes.

Moisturize

Moisturizing is a crucial part of having great skin, so let go of any antiquated beliefs that moisturizers make your skin soft and girly. The truth is, if your skin gets too dry, it produces more oils, which cause more acne and clogged pores. Using a moisturizer every night after you wash your face, and wearing a good moisturizing sunscreen every day, will help your skin prevent signs of aging and reduce breakouts.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and excess grime you don’t want hanging around on your skin. Give your skin a boost with a men’s facial scrub twice a week for best results.
