It’s true that a dog can be a man’s best friend, but if that dog is not well trained, then that “best friend” may cause some big headaches. Plenty of guys struggle to train their dogs, and every dog comes with their own personality quirks. A big belief of The Dog Whisperer is that dogs need to get adequate exercise in order to be trainable. In his book, he talks about the importance of having a daily exercise routine, and how crucial this is in order to train your dogs in all areas of their life.
So, you definitely want to make sure you’re not only letting your dog out for bathroom breaks, but that they’re getting the workout they need to let out their energy.
- Make sure your dog knows its place
A big thing that Cesar Milan says he sees is that some guys will treat their dogs like babies, or like human members of the family, which can be a big mistake. While it makes sense to love your dog, your dog is not a human, and it’s important for them to know their place in the hierarchy.
- Take advantage of training tools

- Make sure everyone in the home is consistent
Another big issue that Cesar Milan sees with dogs is that the training won’t be consistent through every member of the family. This can make it tough for a guy to feel like he is really in control of his dog. If there are other people in the home, it’s important that they’re consistent with the training 100% of the time. Consistency itself is very important for dog training, and it’s even more important through all of the members of the family.
